3 — 2 –1… We have lift off!
What a night! The entrance to Café Adelaide was lined with staff greeting guests with champagne cocktails as the Cocktail Chicks draped them in white boas.
The website was so well designed by the incredibly fun and even more talented gals at Clockwork that we had to really push the envelope for our liquid concoctions to match the technological genius of the site.
Lu set up a cocktail class at one bar, teaching imbibers how to make the perfect Sazerac while the rest of the gang at The Swizzle Stick whipped up Original Lime Daiquiris (my favorite)…
Sidecars (Lally’s favorite…)
…and of course our signature Adelaide Swizzles.
Executive Chef Chris Lusk put together a dynamite menu of imaginative hors d’oeuvres that paired perfectly with Lu’s libations. Coconut Curried Gulf Shrimp with the daiquiri tasted like a gorgeous summer day in the Caribbean, the rye whiskey in the Sazerac stood up to the smokiness in the Neuski’s bacon Crusted Chicken, and the Sidecar was just delicate enough to let the flavors of fall shine in Chef Chris’ Wild Mushroom and Goat Cheese Streudel.
After a raucous night, Lally leaned over towards me, staring at a room covered in remnant white feathers from hundreds of boas and, laughing, said, “it looks like the cocktail chicks had a fight.”
It was truly a pleasure to celebrate with the In The Land of Cocktails crew. Nancy Lyons, Nancylee Myatt, Paige Bernhardt, Georgia Ragsdale, Angela Hartman and Lu Brow are one heck of a gang. Everyone brings their own expertise and creativity. Living in Minnesota, California and New Orleans, the opportunity to meet up is rare. On this night we took advantage … none of us were awake particularly early the next day. After all, the sun rises at 10 am in the land of cocktails.

Old Fashioned looks out of this world. You really have to know how to tell the bartenders to make this.
