    1 ounce Mt. Gay Rum
    1 ounce Myer’s Dark Rum
    1/2 ounce orange cura­cao
    1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
    1/4 ounce sim­ple syrup
    1/4 ounce orgeat syrup
    1 mint sprig for gar­nish
    1 orange slice
    1 Maraschino cherry

    Just say Pontchar­train Beach and most peo­ple my age who grew up in New Orleans will grin like a overgrown kid.

    And there was no “beach” to speak of but an amuse­ment park that rivaled the best we’d ever seen.

    So, I was hav­ing a party, the first real party at my house since Kat­rina.  So how did I decide what to serve?  I asked Lally, what else?
    Hav­ing 35 friends over for din­ner and drinks is no small under­tak­ing.  But it is “de rigeur” to make it look effortless.
